I apologize for not posting more, I have tons of stuff to post, but I have a pesky cold and don't feel like posting a lot right now...however, I do want to introduce our new family addition!
Stormee Oso born on October 08, 2011, she is half Chihuahua and half Jack-Russel. Stormee is the maternal half-sister of Thunder Love and the two are getting along well. Stormee is very feisty and at times Thunder just stares at her, but Thunder has no problems with sharing her toys, her food or her family.

Henry and Mudge, well more Mudge than Henry
Whew, how the time flies! From baby books to chapter books in a flash. The Prince picks four to five different Henry and Mudge books every time we go to the library. I have tried to explain that he may want to pace himself (HAHAHAHA, he is wayyyy to much like his momma for that concept) as there are not an infinite number of Henry and Mudge books, but he is too interesting in Henry and Mudge's adventures to care.
So, I was thrilled when I found a Henry and Mudge project on one of the blogs I follow and immediately wanted to recreate it, so while daddy slept in this morning that is exactly what we did.
Thanks to Amy with Step into Second Grade for the inspiration!
Here is the book the Prince picked to read for the project:
We followed it up with our creation of Mudge and of course, a learning task thrown in :). The three bones represent the beginning, middle and end of the story. The Prince dictated and I wrote.

I Know an Old Woman Who Swallowed a Pie and a Free Parts of Speech Worksheet (added additional lessons)
Remember the book I Know Old Woman Who Swallowed a Fly?? Well, today we read the Thanksgiving version, I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Pie! The Prince really enjoyed it and then we followed it up with cute activities that were inspired by The First Grade Parade.
I was going to share the printable noun-verb-adjective freebie worksheet that the Prince completed today, but for the life of me I can't find it...but no worries I will share the one we are going to do in the future, compliments of Tales of a Teacherista.

EASY HOMEMADE EGGNOG
This is directly from Homemade Mamas! As soon as I found it I said "Is it really that easy? I am soooo making this, but I must put it on my blog or I will forget where I saw it and then I will be a sad homemade eggnogless girl who will be forced to drink the dark rum straight from the bottle!" OKAY OKAY, I didn't think the last part...but nonetheless I didn't want to forget where I saw the recipe, so here it is!!!
Homemade Eggnog

'Tis the season for tasty drinks and holiday cheer. And no seasonal drink gives you both quite like eggnog. You can buy it at the store, of course, but making it from scratch is so easy...not to mention delicious! The recipe we used can be found here on Allrecipes.com. We made ours without alcohol so the kids could enjoy it as well, but feel free to add a splash of "something festive" to yours if you'd like!
What You Need:
First, beat your eggs then mix in the condensed milk, vanilla, milk, and salt. In a separate bowl beat your whipping cream until soft peaks form. Then fold it into your egg/milk mixture. Sprinkle with the nutmeg, serve, and feel merry!
(Of course it's up to you if you had a bit of rum or bourbon!)
Again, Thank you HOMEMADE MAMAS!!

Free Cute Writing Prompts
I decided to take a quick mommy break, have a second cup of coffee, snuggle on the couch and catch up on my beloved blogs. While visiting I discovered some really cute writing prompts (there are over 20!, plus a grading rubric if you like) that I want to share. The Prince is really doing well with his beginning writing, so I want to continue to encourage his progress. Just click on the pictures below to download and/or print away :) Make sure you stop by What the Teacher Wants to check out the creator of these prompts.

HOLY YUM!!!! Caesar Deviled Eggs.
Did you watch the food network live special today? I did and I was inspired to make caesar deviled eggs and cake pops. Caeser salad is one of my favorite things and for the past couple of years I have made my caesar salad Rachael Ray style, so when I heard caesar deviled eggs I almost dropped the weight on my foot. YES! I was watching the food network while doing P90X....Hi! I'm Cindy and I am a foodaholic.
Let me show you what I made and thanks to Rachael Ray I'll give you the recipe for the deviled eggs.
12 hard-boiled eggs, peeled
1 small clove garlic
2 teaspoons anchovy paste
A handful grated parmigiano-reggiano cheese
1/2 small onion, grated (She said this was KEY...don't just chopped the onion!)
3 to 4 tablespoons mayonnaise, just enough to bind
1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
Juice of 1/2 lemon
1 teaspoon coarse black pepper
2 romaine lettuce leaves from the heart, finely chopped
I also wanted to show you what else I did this evening. The decorations are sooo much prettier in person, but as you probably already know I don't have a good camera (Santa is GOING to bring me one)and all my pictures are taken with my phone :/. In addition, I wanted the cake of the pops/balls to be a bit tastier, so I will post my gluten free cake pop recipe...soon!
Let me show you what I made and thanks to Rachael Ray I'll give you the recipe for the deviled eggs.
Ingredients
Directions:
- Cut the fat rounded ends off the eggs, scoop the yolks into a bowl and stand the hard-boiled egg whites upright in the egg carton. If you prefer to serve the eggs on a platter, trim a small piece of egg off the pointed ends so they will stand upright.
- Break the egg yolks up a little bit using a fork. Grate the garlic directly over the bowl, then add the anchovy paste, parmigiano-reggiano, onion, mayo, worcestershire, lemon juice, pepper and half of the finely chopped lettuce. Mash until smooth and check the seasonings.
- Fill the egg whites, overstuffing them a little. Garnish with the remaining finely chopped greens.

The garland and bow are from the dollar tree!
This is my very first attempt at making cake pops, the Prince will be so tickled when he opens the fridge.
I thought I'd see how I like the look of cake balls too :)
