Spring, Peter Cottontail and a Little Pizza

Can you believe we are still NOT 100% better? I can't believe myself. Regardless, I was determined to have some homeschool fun/learning this week despite feeling like something nasty that gets stuck to the bottom of one's shoe. So, I started stalking reading my favorite blogs and HOLY CUTENESS, I hit the jackpot! These activities went right along with what the Prince is learning:

This adjective review project is compliments of Step Into Second Grade.

This adorable fraction rabbit and yummy looking pizza project are both compliments of The First Grade Parade.

If you are going to have the Prince do a pizza fraction lesson, he should have real pizza to eat along with it. The silliness is compliments of non-other than my Chef Aiden( more on the cute hat in a future post!)

Pop Rocks, a blog I LOVE and a Future Math Lesson/Craft

I recently stumbled onto a blog that has the cutest ideas, EVER!!! I mean cute inexpensive or FREE things that even I can recreate. One cute idea is to create a Valentine's area in your home....so here is my recreation:

So head on over and check out Eighteen25! Seriously it is a fabulous blog with fantabulous ideas!

Next:

I have mentioned teachers pay teachers before, but a brief recap: It is a site where teachers sell unit lessons and there are some CUTE! ones. I purchased one on Pop Rocks for like $4 and it included 5 or 6 separate lessons on POP ROCKS! The Prince had never had Pop Rocks before and I found a three pack for $1 at the Dollar Tree. We had a blast! So if you are interested in buying this cute unit click HERE!

Here are a couple of pictures from this fun lesson:

This is one CrAzY pop rocks guy and the Prince loves him, hahahahaha! Ours is a bit different than the one in the lesson, you may like hers better...;?

Finally:

While the Prince was creating the pop rocks guy I thought I would get a jump on Monday's math lesson, so I decided to created double digit addition and subtraction ice cream cones... I must say I get tickled when I come up with my own ideas...:)!

So anywho...this is the addition one...I'll post the finished products next week after the Prince completes the problems and glues them together.

I'm off and running to drop my Prince off at PE and Art and then I will hit the grocery stores..later this evening is date night... Is it super crazy that we are thinking of going to the gym for date night???
Yes, it is.
I know.
But that is what we are thinking.
 HA!

Happy FRIDAY!!!

I Know an Old Woman Who Swallowed a Pie and a Free Parts of Speech Worksheet (added additional lessons)

Remember the book I Know Old Woman Who Swallowed a Fly?? Well, today we read the Thanksgiving version, I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Pie! The Prince really enjoyed it and then we followed it up with cute activities that were inspired by The First Grade Parade.

"If I were the Old Lady, I would swallow a melon."

I was going to share the printable noun-verb-adjective freebie worksheet that the Prince completed today, but for the life of me I can't find it...but no worries I will share the one we are going to do in the future, compliments of Tales of a Teacherista.

CLICK HERE for the following worksheets/lesson that focus only on Nouns from the very creative Step into 2nd Grade.

WHEW! EEK! Adjectives and Spiders all in one week!!

Last week was one very busy, very educational and very fun week here at the Sharp Academy. I must give credit where credit is due: PINTEREST! I am having so much fun discovering such great ideas and recreating them with my Prince. So let's move on to the pictures and there are lots of them!

Yep, one of his self adjectives is "hot." SMH.

Now on to spiders...

Spider Math

I read this story to the Prince and at the part where the grandfather flies away, I closed the book. I then asked the Prince to draw and write where he thought Gpa went. It reads   "A boat in the ocean." When he was finished I asked him why he thought that is where Gpa went and he responded, "because I saw it on the next page." HA!

I love our spider sandwich poem. The Prince used 3 verbs and 3 adjectives from his spider verb/adjective list.

We really had fun this week and even made a yummy treat ( I will post separately).  I have to again thank Pinterest from which the ideas appeared, but also the FABULOUS pages the ideas were linked to. A very appreciative thank you to : Step Into Second Grade and The First Grade Parade.
